Poppy Appeal: a charity with a PR problem

As charity fund-raising efforts go, the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal attracts more than its fair share of negative publicity. The latest example of this being the half-time protest by Celtic supporters during their match against Aberdeen at the weekend.

PRs vow to stop spamming journalists and bloggers

Those of us who have worked on both sides of the fence and have a shred of empathy in our bodies were no doubt already abiding by this, but an announcement has been made this week that members of the CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations), PRCA (Public Relations Consultants Association) and Investor Relations Society will stop spamming journalists and bloggers.

Journalists spend a large proportion of their day sifting through emails which are of no tangible relevance to their publication because of the scatter-gun distribution techniques of some PR firms. Continue reading
